Why We’ve Created a Digital Welcome

Feb 20, 2026

Over the past few years, the Gardeners’ House has grown into something much bigger than a restored building in Morrab Gardens. It’s become a place where people come to spend time, learn something new, share stories, sit quietly, meet others, and feel part of something local and rooted.

As we’ve grown, we’ve realised that not everyone’s first encounter with us happens through the front door. For many people, it happens online.

That’s why we’ve created a digital welcome.

We wanted something that feels like the start of a conversation rather than just a list of information. A way of helping people understand who we are, what we care about, and how they might get involved – before they’ve even visited in person.

Making it easier to feel part of it

The Gardeners’ House is about connection – to nature, to heritage, and to each other. But not everyone can drop in easily. Some people are new to the area. Some are thinking about coming to an event but aren’t sure what to expect. Some might simply be curious about what happens here.

A digital welcome helps to lower that barrier. It gives people a sense of what we do, how the space is used, and what kind of atmosphere they might find. It answers some of the unspoken questions:

Is this for me?
Will I feel comfortable there?
What actually happens?

Those things matter more than we sometimes realise.

Extending our hospitality

We spend a lot of time thinking about how we welcome people into the building – how it feels, how it’s set up, how conversations begin. Creating a digital welcome is really just an extension of that same thinking.

It allows us to:

  • Introduce our projects and work in an accessible way
  • Help people prepare for workshops and events
  • Show that there’s space here for different ages, backgrounds and experiences

A starting point, not a substitute

The digital welcome isn’t meant to replace coming through the door. It’s simply a starting point. A way of saying: this is who we are, this is what we care about, and you’re welcome to be part of it.

The Gardeners’ House will always be rooted in place – in Morrab Gardens and in West Cornwall. But our community stretches beyond the physical walls of the building. Creating a digital welcome felt like a natural next step in making sure that connection remains open, accessible and inclusive.

If you haven’t explored it yet, we hope it gives you a clearer sense of what we’re about – and perhaps encourages you to come and see us in person too.
