The Gardeners’ House is proud to announce that we have been selected as a national winner at the 2026 Civic Trust Awards, placing the project among just 46 National and International schemes recognised from more than 300 entries across the UK and beyond.
We were announced as a regional finalist at the end of last year – and this new announcement takes us to the next level
The achievement marks a major milestone for the our community and heritage project. The latest recognition elevates The Gardeners’ House into the Civic Trust Awards’ top tier and positions it as one of only three projects from Cornwall to reach this level in 2026.

The precise level of recognition – Civic Trust Award or Highly Commended – will be announced at the 67th Annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony on Friday 27 March 2026, held at The Concorde Conference Centre, Altrincham.
Miki Ashton, our director at the Gardeners’ House, said: “We are incredibly proud to see The Gardeners’ House recognised on a national stage. To be shortlisted among such a small group of outstanding projects – and to represent Cornwall at this level – is a real testament to the care, collaboration and community spirit that brought this project to life.”
Founded in 1959, the Civic Trust Awards are one of the UK’s longest-running and most respected built-environment awards, celebrating projects that demonstrate design excellence while delivering meaningful social, environmental and cultural impact.
The Gardeners’ House, located in Morrab Gardens, Penzance, is a thoughtfully restored historic building that now serves as a hub for creativity, wellbeing and connection with nature. The project has transformed a former garden building – previously the home for the head gardeners at Morrab Gardens, which had fallen into a state of disrepair – into a welcoming, accessible space for workshops, exhibitions and community activity, rooted firmly in its local stories and the Cornish landscape.
The awards ceremony will take place beneath the wings of the iconic Concorde aircraft and includes a drinks reception, three-course dinner and the presentation of Award Plaques, Highly Commended Awards and Certificates.
