Summer Holiday Activities at the Gardeners’ House

Jul 17, 2025

We are running free, drop in family workshops every Wednesday 1.30pm – 3.30pm during the summer, starting from Wednesday 30 July. All of our activities will be around the theme of seaweed, and these creative activities have been inspired by Victorian seaweed pressings in the Living Archive at the Gardeners’ House.

30 July – Seaweed hairdos

Become a seaweed hairdresser at the Gardeners’ House salon. Seaweed hairdos will be made on paper, not on our heads.

6 August – Sea in a box

Create your own underwater world from recycled materials and portraits to swim amongst the seaweed!

13 August – Giant seaweed

Contribute to our collaborative seaweed artwork

20 August – Seaweed shadows

Collect seaweed shadows through multimedia mark making and explorations in the garden.

27 August – Gelli printing

Explore the art of gelli printing with images from the sea

3 September – Seaweed sun prints

Use the UV rays to print your own seaweed silhouettes
