On Saturday 10 October the Gardeners’ House farmers market returns for the final time this year and we are running it as our harvest festival.
Harvest has always been a moment for communities to gather and mark the end of the growing year – it celebrated bringing in the crops, sharing what the land has produced, and giving thanks before the colder months set in. It feels like the right way to close a market season that began with our first market in May and has brought together growers, producers, bakers and makers from across West Cornwall to Morrab Gardens.
What’s on
The market runs from 10am to 2pm, with stalls throughout the building selling fruit and vegetables, bakes, and much more. Traders include Cornish Golden Grains, Shea Alchemy, Bosavern Community Farm and Growing Links.
We’ll be treated to the dulcet tones of the Folk Tree choir from midday in the sensory garden and we’re upping the food offering this month – you can expect bakes from Bite Club and Acai Bowls and warming autumnal porridge from Seal Beach. We will also once again be welcoming the Gypsea Rogue van at the front of the Gardeners’ House, serving delicious Union Coffee.
And don’t forget, our wonderful little Gardeners’ House shop will be open, filled with a selection of thoughtfully-curated wares for you, or to purchase as gifts for friends and family.
October is Fungi Month at the Gardeners’ House, and in the Study there will be family-friendly making activities where you can create your own little mushroom from dried food, corks and other reused materials. Take yours home, or add it to our growing fungi decorations. We will also be running a workshop upstairs with Karadow Fungi, making the first floor our Fungi Floor. Harvest donations
In keeping with harvest tradition, we’ll be collecting tins and other non-perishable food on the day, which we’ll donate to a local food bank. If you can, please bring something along with you.
Celebrating our landscape and stories
The market has always been about celebrating the growers and producers of West Cornwall, and the local food systems they are part of. Much of what’s on sale is grown and made within a few miles of Penzance, by people who know this landscape well. Harvest is a good opportunity for the community to come together, meet them, and find out more about the food being grown and made on our doorstep.

This will be the last market until spring 2027, when we’ll be back with a new season of producers and events. Thank you to everyone who has traded, shopped and visited this year.
