Celebrating a successful Magnolia Festival Community Day

Apr 28, 2026

We can officially confirm that the first Magnolia Festival of Morrab Gardens was a success!

Not only was there no rain – not even a hint of mizzle – but the eldest magnolias held on to their very last blooms, the whole garden was filled with music, everyone had a chance of a cuppa and a catch up, and people gave their ideas for names for our magnolia trees (Daisy’s personal favourite was Sausage).

The bandstand and gardens were decorated with paper magnolias, tassel bunting and pom-poms made by our wonderful team of creative volunteers.

It was brilliant to welcome more people to the Gardeners House and to see the volunteers hard work receiving much well-deserved praise, with people exclaiming with surprise when they came round the corner to see the flowery bandstand.

We want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved – for the singing, dancing, tea serving, crafty helping, chair carrying, pom-pom making and the creation of the cucumber sandwich mountain. What a lovely day! Thank you to all who came to celebrate our first ever Magnolia Festival.

And an additional thank you to Penzance Silver Band, Barbed Choir and the wonderful tango dancers for their performances during the event.
